I’m starting to put this roof back together. As you see, I’m starting with the main valley between the two dormers.
The paper is two layers of 30 pounds felt. We have to do that sound here for freezing. The weave will be layered. Finally got the heavy work behind me. Now it’s just the tedium of time 🙂
Well, two dormers done. Not the best pic I ever took because of the lighting and the time of day, but you get the idea. I still have to shim my valleys for the weave, and trim my edges, but I can just about start laying paper within a day or two.
Well, I have more apples this year than I could eat in nearly a decade, but not a single pear. Why? I have no idea. I have three pear trees but not one of them has produced a single pear. I’m not a botanist, but pears and apples have got to be related, I mean kissing cousins… but tons of apples yet not one pear. Thoughts?
Good Lord, it’s almost as if I can start my sheeting soon… aside from some blocking here and there, I’m pretty much done with the frame up. I do need some torsion brackets but I can add those from underneath once the roofing is done. The weather is the big deal… Autumn is on it’s way.
Starting to get excited about this dormer project. I know it won’t be pretty to many out there but it’s been a fun challenge to me to test my engineering skills. One of the things I’m pretty excited about is testing my ability to support my center cap without a beam our lem. I think I got it down amazingly well and expect this roof to outlast me by many decades which won’t be to long off now that I’m guessing old 🙂
The old site I was at SU had so many pics of my progress that I’m kinda sad it’s gone, but I still have all those pics so I could add to my blog here retro.
More to come…
Took a break from my roof project because I had the little ladies this weekend and there was some really important stuff to do like paint pictures, watch Scooby, BBQ, drink beer and share popsicles.
Notice the genius in my budding artist. Strong lines, good placement, contrasting color, understatement of images… Picasso has nothing going on here of any interest next to this kind of genius.
Who’s the best? Uncle Cranky, that’s who.
The news is reporting that Trump is going to take the pledge… You know, the pledge to support the Republican Party candidate regardless of who it is. Even though I’ve been super busy working on my roof, it seemed like a good idea to take note of that pledge and go over a few of it’s details:
I pledge allegiance to the cog
Of the party machine of America,
And to the partisanship for which it stands,
One party, under Marx
Indefensible, with poverty and division for all.
Well, that’s how it’s gonna sound to me anyway. I’m not a believer in devotion to partisanship. I’ll save my devotion for Jesus, and I think I’ll keep my loyalty oaths to defend The Constitution and it’s principles… You know, those forgotten principles like federalism, representation, constitutional restraint… the shit nobody likes to talk about anymore because it might not jive with the outcome of the latest agenda. Call me crazy…
